PIEZOELECTRIC PROPERTIES

SIGNAL GENERATION

Another revolutionary property of Logic-Coating is its ability to generate an electronic signal when subjected to pressure. The polymer contains nanometric particles in a uniform suspended state which give the polymer piezoelectric properties. These particles generate tension when compressed. The signal is captured by the polymer and transported to a desired point on the surface via purpose-drawn conducive pathways. As well as producing an electronic signal and conducting it to the electrodes, the technology provides a further diagnostic
benefit, the ability to determine the location and intensity of the pressure exerted on the surface. A further benefit of the unique properties of the coating is that once the polymer has been applied the particles can be oriented into any direction simply by passing a magnetic field over the required area. This means that the piezoelectric properties of selected surface areas can easily be customised to maximise the sensitivity and overall output of the system.

VIBRATIONS

The piezoelectric functionality of the nanometric charges is bidirectional which means that signal generation may be inverted. If the polymer is subjected to a set tension it will vibrate, a property that has multiple possible applications:
To improve the hydrodynamic performance of a moving vessel, increasing the surface resistance of a boat's hull so as to protect it from attack from marine microorganisms. As an interface for, as an example, a touch-screen telephone which can feed back a tactile sensation to the user while typing or to denote the passage from one set of functionality to another.
